What Home Backup covers

Home Backup means a Tesla Powerwall keeps power flowing to the circuits you choose during an outage or PSPS shutoff. Depending on the design, that can be a few essentials, like the fridge, lights, Wi-Fi and medical devices, or a larger set of circuits. We don't promise to back up everything in your home. We size the system to your use, your electrical panel and the circuits that matter most to you, and we spell out what will and won't run.

Tesla Powerwall, installed by a Tesla Certified Installer

We install Tesla Powerwall batteries, and we're a Tesla Certified Installer. Our standard Powerwall setup is Home Backup, so the battery is ready for outages, not just for shifting solar into the evening.

Pair it with Hyundai solar panels and your battery can recharge from the sun during the day. Already have solar? We can look at adding a Powerwall to your existing system.

Backup plus everyday value on PG&E and SCE

Under the Solar Billing Plan (NEM 3.0), power you send back to the grid is usually credited at less than what you pay. A Powerwall stores midday solar so you can use it from 4 to 9 p.m., when power costs the most, and keeps a reserve ready for outages. See how it fits together on our Solar + Battery page.

How we design your Home Backup system

  1. Bill review. Send us 12 months of PG&E or SCE usage.

  2. Site visit. We look at your electrical panel, your roof and shade if you're adding solar, and where the Powerwall can go.

  3. Pick your circuits. We walk through which essentials you want backed up during an outage.

  4. Honest proposal. Battery alone or solar + battery, with the tradeoffs spelled out.

  5. Permits, install and utility approval. We pull permits, install, and handle the interconnection paperwork until you have Permission to Operate. Permit timing depends on your city or county's permitting office.
